Fraud Alert: Scam Text Messages Claiming DMV Penalties -

We have been made aware of fraudulent text messages being sent to individuals claiming to be from the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or the court system. These messages often state that the recipient owes penalties or fees related to traffic violations or DMV infractions and may include a link or phone number to resolve the matter.

Take these steps to reduce the chances of falling victim to a text message scam:

  • Never respond to unsolicited or suspicious texts — If you receive a message asking for personal or financial information, do not reply.
  • Verify the source — If you are unsure, always contact the DMV through official channels.
  • Call the DMV if you have concerns — The DMV customer service team is available to help you at 800-777-0133.

Conservatorship of Charles E. Yarnell (UPDATED 2/20/24)

Case Number

24PR00002

Case Type

Conservatorship

Hearing Date / Time

Wed, 02/21/2024 - 08:30

Nature of Proceedings

Petition for Appointment of Temporary Conservator

Tentative Ruling

Probate Notes:

Appearances required.

At the first hearing on this matter (Jan. 7, 2024), the Court noted its concern for lack of evidence of exigency on the record, but did not rule on the petition. The hearing on the temporary conservatorship was rescheduled for the current hearing date and the hearing on the general conservatorship was vacated.

From the record it appears that the temporary conservatorship petition is now moot, and a stipulation/settlement has been reached as to the general conservatorship.

The following issues are noted for the court re: general conservatorship:

No Notice (Relatives). The supplement filed on January 16, 2024, shows that the proposed conservatee has two siblings known to be living.  It does not appear these persons have been served.  If petitioner requests the court to dispense with service to those persons, Petitioner must file a Declaration of Due Diligence as to both siblings on Local Form SC–6014.

Amended Letters. The proposed Letters on file do not match the relief in the proposed order or settlement agreement. Please submit amended letters.

The proposed conservatee is expected to attend the hearing.  (Prob. Code, § 1825.)
