Jury Scam alert -

The Santa Barbara Superior Court has received complaints about individuals trying to scam members of the public by pretending to be court officers or officials. The Jury Services office of the Santa Barbara Superior Court does not call citizens to request payments for failing to appear for jury duty. California law does not permit citizens to pay a fine in lieu of jury duty. If you receive such a call simply hang up and, if the scammer persists, call your local law enforcement agency. Global Assets Liens & Foreclosures LLC vs River City Phoenix et al

Case Number

24CV06159

Case Type

Civil Law & Motion

Hearing Date / Time

Fri, 02/28/2025 - 10:00

Nature of Proceedings

8 Right to Attach

Tentative Ruling

Plaintiff Global Assets Liens & Foreclosures, LLC, has filed an application for right to attach order against eight of the defendants in this action, setting the hearing on each of the applications for February 28, 2025. On February 5, 2025, defendant MWG Holdings Group, Inc. filed a motion to transfer venue of the action to Sacramento County, on the basis that plaintiff’s complaint has admitted that the principal place of business for each defendant is in Sacramento, California. The hearing on that motion has been set for April 25, 2025.

The filing of a motion to transfer venue ordinarily suspends the jurisdiction of the court and stays any other motion or proceeding in the court in which it is filed, while the motion for transfer of venue is pending.

As a result, the Court will continue the hearings on the applications for right to attach orders to April 25, 2025. Should the motion for transfer of venue be granted, the applications will properly be determined by the Sacramento Superior Court following the transfer of the action. In the event that the motion for transfer of venue is denied, the Court will, at that time, reset the hearings on the applications for right to attach orders to a future date which will permit defendants an adequate opportunity to oppose the applications.
