Tentative Ruling

These are four unopposed discovery motions of defendant Darush Babai: (1) a motion to compel responses to form interrogatories, set one; (2) a motion to compel responses to special interrogatories, set one; (3) a motion to compel responses to inspection demands, set one; and (4) a motion to deem matters admitted. As to the three motions to compel, the unopposed motions are granted and plaintiff Jose Alfredo Rojas Hernandez shall serve verified responses to the form interrogatories, special interrogatories, and inspection demands, without objection, and shall produce all responsive documents identified in the responses to the inspection demands, within 15 calendar days after service of notice of this order. As to the motion to deem matters admitted, unless Hernandez has served, before the hearing on this motion, a proposed response to the requests for admission that is in substantial compliance with Code of Civil Procedure section 2033.220, the court will grant the motion and shall deem the matters admitted as set forth in the request for admissions.

The motions request awards of monetary sanctions in the amounts for these respective motions: (1) motion to compel responses to form interrogatories, set one, $660.00; (2) motion to compel responses to special interrogatories, set one, $260.00; (3) motion to compel responses to inspection demands, set one, $460.00; and (4) motion to deem matters admitted, $460.00. The requests for awards for monetary sanctions are granted (for a total award of $1,840.00) against plaintiff Jose Alfredo Rojas Hernandez, to be paid to counsel for defendant on or before September 8, 2025.
